SIMON RYNINKS - Screenwriter and Director

I’m a filmmaker with a passion for comedy-drama. I blend big genre tropes with domestic intimacy to tell stories about connection, nature, and belief. My work is known for its warmth, wit, and gently political edge.

My first feature film, OUT THERE - a comedy-drama developed with the BFI and Ffilm Cymru Wales - is currently in post production.

My short films have screened at 100s of festivals worldwide. They include THE ELEVATOR PITCH (Sundance London nominee), CONTRACTOR 014352 (broadcast internationally on Canal+), and THE PLUNGE (BAFTA longlist).

I studied Screenwriting at UEA before cutting my teeth creating stop-motion animations, music videos for major labels, and community-led interactive theatre.

I run the FIND YOUR FILM online development workshop for filmmakers and co-manage STAGE 21, an initiative championing on-screen representation for disabled actors.

Born in London, I have Dutch and Welsh roots.
