SIMON RYNINKS - Screenwriter and Director

Simon Ryninks is a writer and director whose work blends genre storytelling with emotional intimacy, exploring connection, community, and belief. His films are known for their warmth, wit, and performance-led approach, often balancing humour with a gently political edge.

His debut feature film, OUT THERE, starring Aneurin Barnard, Iwan Rheon, Alice Lowe and Michael Sheen, was produced by Sweetdoh Films and Bad Cat with support from Ffilm Cymru Wales and the British Film Institute. The film is set for release in 2026.

Simon’s short films have screened at over 100 international festivals, have been BAFTA long-listed and broadcast globally. Alongside narrative film, Simon has directed music videos for major UK and US labels and social impact films with wide online reach, bringing a character-driven, collaborative approach to all of his work.

He runs the FIND YOUR FILM development workshop and offers MENTORING for emerging filmmakers. He also co-manages STAGE 21, an initiative championing on-screen representation for disabled actors.

Simon was born in London and has Dutch and Welsh roots. He is currently undertaking an MA in Folklore Studies.
