Simon Ryninks
Sceenwriter & Director

AboutI'm Simon Ryninks, a screenwriter and director telling grounded genre stories about dreamers, believers and everyday lives upended by the unexpected. My debut feature film, OUT THERE, premiered at the 79th Edinburgh International Film Festival in 2026, starring Nerys Amber-Stocks, Tom Moya, Aneurin Barnard, Iwan Rheon, Alice Lowe and Michael Sheen. The sci-fi comedy-drama was praised by Digital Spy for its balance of genre hijinks and genuine emotion, while The Guardian's Peter Bradshaw called it “likeably daft but big-hearted" and "entertaining stuff”, adding that “it could spin off nicely as a TV series”. Screen International said that “among the many promising qualities that Ryninks reveals is his ability to work with actors”, while Far Out Magazine said the film marked out a writer-director with “a bright future ahead of him”.Since 2020, I have co-run STAGE 21, an initiative that champions on-screen representation for actors with learning disabilities through fun and inspiring workshops.
